Journey to the Rupert River

After last year’s adventures in British Columbia, the group decided to continue with its Canadian theme. In late September, nearly a dozen ROXS members convoyed to Battersea, Ontario for the start of this year’s expedition to the north (far north) and the Rupert River of Quebec. As usual, the members found themselves surrounded by adventure. Exploring the hydro cuts in Ontario, the muskeg in Quebec and the remoteness of James Bay provided unique experiences, not soon to be forgotten. Unexpected inclement weather, together with a few of the ‘expected’ remote repairs, added to the excitement. Arriving at our final destination, we were witness to the awesome and brutal power of the Rupert River which is scheduled to be dammed by Quebec Hydro next year.

A trip worth remembering, for its beauty, its remoteness and its awesome solitude. Good times with good friends…

Jay.
